What a lovely pub. This 200 year old pub hides a mellow and atmospheric interior. Large open fire, low beams, stone walls, flagstone floor and the dried hops hanging from the beams give it a real rustic atmosphere.

The high backed settles form a couple of cosy cubicles and there are many corners to slide into and savour a fine pint.

A few sayings adorn the wooden beams around the pub.

“If I were your wife, I’d put poison in your coffee”. If I were your husband, I’d drink it”.          Nancy Astor and Winston Churchill

“My wife thinks I’m ugly when I’m drunk, but she looks pretty horrible to me when I’m sober”.    Anon

“Winston you’re drunk”. “Bessie, you’re ugly. But tomorrow I shall be sober”.         Bessie Braddock and Winston Churchill
